The Center for the Photographic Image (CPI) is a nonprofit membership-based organization whose mission is dedicated to furthering the knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of the photographic arts by creating an environment for discussion through education and exhibitions. As more and more people are turning to photography as a medium of expression as well as of communication, Philadelphia's only center for photography will embrace and celebrate twenty-first century technologies while honoring vintage photographic processes to bring together friends of photography.

Center for Photography
The Center for Photography at Woodstock provides an artistic home for contemporary creative photography with programs in education, exhibition, publication, residencies, and services for artists. Our purpose is to build audiences, enhance dialogue, and encourage inquiry about contemporary photography and related media through innovative programs. We bring together a culturally diverse community in an environment which promotes interaction and exploration of the arts.

Light Work's aim is to support artists in the production of new work and to provide a forum for artists from outside Light Work's geographic area to interact formally and informally with our local community.

Maryland Art Place

In 1981, a group of artists and committed citizens began exploring the subject of the visual arts in Maryland, focusing on two primary concerns: the common needs of visual artists throughout the state, and the desire of many citizens to have more access to and information about artists working in Maryland.

The Maryland State Arts Council recognized the inherent value of these concerns and the importance of a venue to facilitate the communities’ needs. In such, the Arts Council granted funds to form an organization that would further this group’s pursuits in promoting contemporary art. This dedicated group, became the founders of Maryland Art Place (MAP), and led the organization to incorporation in 1982.

MAP remains committed to fostering an environment conducive to the growth of contemporary art in Maryland, and has sought to fulfill its mission through broad-based programming which offers artists and the public a variety of avenues for challenging interaction and advancement.

The Museum of Contemporary Photography is a stimulating and innovative forum for the creation, collection, and examination of photographically related images, objects, and ideas. Soho Photo
Soho Photo Gallery is a not-for-profit cooperative foundation, managed and operated by a membership of over 100 artists. The gallery was founded in 1971 by a group of freelancers and fine art photographers in a small Soho space. They moved a few years later into neighboring Tribeca, building the gallery in the spacious rooms of a former egg warehouse. For three decades the gallery's mission has been the showcasing of achievement and talent of every variety. Notable photographers who have exhibited at Soho Photo include Andre Kertesz, Minor White, and Eva Rubinstein.

Southeast Museum of Photography
Our museum mission emphasizes teaching and learning through the medium of photography. This is not only because we have our roots in an educational institution, but also because we recognize the importance of the visual and photographic in our culture. Photography is perhaps the most ubiquitous of all the visual communications in our culture and it is, in many ways, the most democratic and accessible. The meanings conveyed by photographs are often complex and open-ended. One of the roles of the Southeast Museum of Photography is to create exhibitions and programs that foster an active and thoughtful engagement of the audience with visual culture.
